Tired Schalke lose 2-1 to Norwich City in the battle of the exes on Friday.
Borussia Dortmund’s former under-23 coaches Daniel Farke (Norwich) and David Wagner (Schalke) faced off in a friendly on Friday afternoon. Newly appointed Wagner, who is tasked with putting the mess in Gelsenkirchen back together, drew the short end of the stick.
Oliver Prause, reporting for 24vest.de described the Royal Blues performance as “tired” and “embarrassing”, as Schalke were bested by former S04 midfielder Teemu Pukki and former Dortmund legend Moritz Leitner.

“Schalke’s game didn’t get any better,” Prause wrote about Norwich’s second goal, “To the contrary, it got even more embarrassing in the 59th minute. S04 recklessly lost the ball on the right side of the pitch. The following shot of Moritz Leitner was deflected into the goal by Benjamin Stambouli”. You hate to see it.
