Lars Ricken, head of Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy, told Ruhr Nachrichten that Edin Terzic’s value for BVB’s junior teams is immeasurable.
“There is probably no head coach of any senior Bundesliga side who knows the youth players as well as Edin Terzic,” the 46-year-old explained, adding: “This is simply a gift for us, because he has been extremely involved in the youth departments in his role as technical director. He has seen a lot of games and some of the training sessions, he has had one-on-one conversations with the boys. He knows all the boys from the U23s, U19s and U17s by their first name and can assess them all. That’s a real asset and really cool for the guys.”
BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl explained amid the coaching change that the Black and Yellows are going to make the integration of home-grown talent into the senior squad a priority. Especially Youssoufa Moukoko is supposed to be handed more playing time but also Tom Rothe, Bradley Fink, Lion Semic, Prince Aning and Jayden Braaf are in the medium to long-term plans of Terzic.
