The Dortmund keeper still has not fully overcome his leg injury. Marwin Hitz will remain in goal for the first Bundesliga match of the season.
Roman Bürki suffered a deep tear on his shin during the training camp in Bad Ragaz. The 28-year-old was declared fit by Favre at Thursday’s news conference, however, according to Bild, the Swiss goalkeeper is still feeling pain in his leg.
“Roman Bürki still has a training deficit,” sporting director Michael Zorc told Sky before the game, adding: “I assume that he will be available against Cologne.”

The silver lining for Dortmund is that often-criticised Marwin Hitz had all pre-season, the DFL Supercup and DFB Pokal, where he kept clean sheets, to gain match rhythm.
Wolf leashed
Ruhr Nachrichten reporter Florian Groeger tweeted that midfielder Marius Wolf was watching BVB’s under-19 play against Cologne, which means he is not in the Matchday squad.
Marius #Wolf schaut sich gerade in #Brackel das Spiel der #BVB-U19 gegen den @fckoeln an – und steht somit heute nicht im Kader bei #BVBFCA.
