Borussia Dortmund’s have nominated their fifth-string goalkeeper Jonas Hupe to sit on the bench against FC Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Dortmund fans will have to hope that Roman Bürki does not get send off or picks up an injury during the match against FC Barcelona. Second goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has a problem with his abdominal muscles while third goalkeeper Eric Oelschlägel is out with a groin injury.
Jan Reckert, who replaced Oelschlägel in BVB II’s goal during Saturday’s game is 22 years old and thus ineligible to be called up to the UCL Matchday squad via the B-list because he was born before the 1. January 1998.
Dortmund have nominated Under-23 goalkeepers Jonas Hupe (19) and Lucien Hawryluk (18) via the B-list instead. Neither is yet to play a competitive match this season. Hupe was brought up to the Under-23 from the Under-19 this summer.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the 2-metre tall goalkeeper will take place in the Dortmund dugout. It is safe to say that this will be an unforgettable night for Hupe whatever may happen.
